KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 4.27 g, 10 h), Lampsakos, struck under Leonnatos, Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 323-317. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [A]ΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, buckle; below throne, Artemis advancing left, holding torch in both hands. Price 1379. Lightly toned. Good very fine.
